This talk by historian and trustee Jillian Price will explore the rise of New Hampshire knitting mills in Portsmouth and surrounding towns in the 1840s-60s. She will discuss how knitting mills (locally and nationally) changed the home knitting industry and contributed to knitwear's rise as a fashion item. This program is co-hosted by Exeter TV and is free and open to the public.
