Jean Elson will discuss the story recounted in her book, Gross Misbehavior and Wickedness, about the troubled marriage and acrimonious divorce of Nina and James Walker, which took place during the American Progressive period. She based the book on court documents, correspondence between the principals, the wife’s journal, and interviews with descendants. An Exeter native played an important role in the plot and Elson did much of her research on that character at the Exeter Historical Society.
